Today was a trip from Edinburgh across central Scotland. Had a few places on the tick list. Although we didn’t spend too much time at any one place, they were all worthy of a visit.
First on the list was The Kelpies.

Very impressive statues. Had it been a bit later in the day would have grabbed a bite to eat here, but as we had not long had breakfast then we just continued on our way.
Next on the list was the Falkirk Wheel.

How this ever got through planning is a miracle, but so glad it did.
We then headed off to Callandar. That there was a car park that only accepted cash was a surprise in itself. I had visited here as a school boy to paddle at a canoe slalom, and wanted to walk up to the Falls of Leny. The walk was along a cycle track, so was flat and easy going. The falls were not at their most impressive, but still worth a visit. There were some people swimming, but as we didn’t bring our kit we were unable to join them.

It was then off to our camp on the shores of Lock Earn.
